The New Trend in India – SUVs

The new trend which seems to have gripped the nation's rich crowd is the craze to own a SUV, a sports utility vehicle. From politicians to top industrialists, from cricketers to actors; all seem to want to own at least one SUV. No company has any doubt regarding the fact that it is in any sector, the Indian market is the best market to sell in.

The auto companies are one of the companies which see India as one of the booming markets. The heavy weights in this sector are now targeting SUVs as another revenue generating opportunity. They are now trying to assemble the Sports Utility Vehicles in India itself so as to reduce the price which will enable them to get more clients. Since the vehicle will be assembled in India, the custom duty on them will be drastically cut out.

Apart from just seeing big bucks, these companies are giving equal importance to customer satisfaction to create a base of satisfied and contended clients. For an SUV to be imported as a whole vehicle without assembling any part of it, its price will be approximately Rs 40 lakhs which is around 110% of the total duty. On the other side if we look at a car that is assembled in India, the price of the car would be near the Rs 30 lakh level.

Hyundai, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Renault and Tata Land-Rover are some of the major companies that are looking at the task of assembling the SUVs in India and then selling it to its clients. Among these companies, Audi is the one which is assembling part of the luxurious Audi Q5 model.

It is just a matter of time before we see the competition in the SUV sector rising too.
