Nokia 5310 XpressMusic – A Good Medium Range Mobile Phone


Nokia 5310 is a 15mm slim glossy surface stylish mobile phone. It weighs just 90 grams. Technically the mobile may be compared to Sony Ericsson W880. The mobile has dedicated music controls on its left side edge for music lovers ease. The mobile runs on Series 40 operating system.

Style & Design

The light weight Nokia 5310 has 108X46X15 mm thickness. The mobile casing is really attractive with glossy aluminum finish. The mobile has 2 inch screen display which delivers 240X320 pixel resolution. The handset features dedicated keys for music and N-Gage gaming which is useful apart from 8-way Navi key feature. The mobile is available in 7 colors including white, red, blue, violetand black. When you activate your Nokia 5310 handset's integrated Handsfree Speaker, you can talk to the other party without holding the phone to your ear. 3.5 mm AV connector in Nokia 5310 XpressMusic provides stereo audio out and video out to standard audio accessories and consumer electronics (home stereos, TV, car stereos, etc.)

Mobile's Camera

Nokia 5310 sports 2 megapixel camera which is satisfactory if you use on web but for print quality its not suitable as pixels are visible on paper sometimes. On being tested in day light it worked well but indoor photography is poor. The camera supports up to 4x digital zoom. The video recording also holds the same for this camera phone. The embedded flickr application helps you upload your photo directly to flickr website without any hassle. There is also another camera in front for video calling over 3G network. It provides 384 x 320 display size. The video is streamed in 3GPP.

Multimedia & Applications

The SMS reader functionality is good if you are lazy to read your SMS's or scroll long messages. The keys on the keypad are very close so accidently wrong keys are pressed sometimes. The media player with robust battery that gives approx approx 20 hours of music playback. Nokia Say and Play feature lets you issue voice command to mobile phone to play a music track. Nokia 5310 Xpress Music phone supports MP3, M4A, eAAC +, and WMA file formats for playing. You can set ringtones in 3D, True tones, AAC and MP3, MIDI formats. The FM sound quality was excellent. You can play flash files on this mobile phones as it has support for Macromedia Flash Lite 3.0. You may expand memory with microSD card up to 16 GB to support memory expansion as there is only 140 MB internal user memory in this handset.
